Voices of Hope Board of Directors are individuals in recovery, family members and allies who support recovery initiatives in Maryland. They are passionate about advocating for the health and wellness of families who have faced substance use disorder. They make sure Voices of Hope programs follow our mission and that we remain financially sound. John Corrigan, Treasurer
After receiving his BA from Wittenberg University in 1988, John went on to achieve success in the business world as both an employee and as a business owner. He developed his foundation of overall business practices with a specialty in sales methodology with companies such as Time Warner, MCI Telecommunications and KPMG Consulting. In 2011 John launched his behavioral health career as a department supervisor at Ashley Addiction Treatment in Havre de Grace, MD. John transitioned from clinical operations to community outreach, assuming treatment consultant roles for American Addiction Centers and Recovery Centers of America. From 2018 to the present John has assumed leadership roles as National Business Development Director with Delphi Behavioral Health Group, Vice President of Sales at FinPay, LLC and currently as Director of Business Development and Marketing at Meadow Wood Behavioral Health Hospital in New Castle, DE. As an active participant in the recovery community, John strives to be a voice for those who often remain voiceless due to SUD and other mental health conditions.
Corren Johnson, Secretary
Corren is the Financial Administrator at Voices of Hope. She is responsible for recording the minutes and keeping track of all adjustments for the Board. She is a lifelong resident of Cecil County and a proud Mom of two boys. Corren has passion to help those in her community struggling with addiction and the stigma that comes along with it.
Shauna McGough, Interim President
Shauna has a Masters Degree in Social Work and is a Licensed Social Worker for the state of Maryland. Specializing in addiction and trauma, trained in EMDR. Currently working as a Medical Social Worker for Amedisys Hospice. Professional history working as an Outpatient Mental Health Psychotherapist and Inpatient Addiction Specialist with both primary and relapse patients and family system. Shauna is a proud wife, mother and person in long term recovery whom lives and serves others in Cecil County and surrounding areas.
Terri Gentry
Terri is currently Executive Director of an outpatient substance abuse treatment center. She brings over 14 years of experience in the mental health and substance abuse field. Having witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of addiction through the loss of her brother to an overdose in 2022, she is deeply committed to advocating for improved treatment options and barrier-free access to substance abuse services. Her personal journey has fueled this mission to change societal perceptions surrounding addiction, and she is dedicated to ensuring that individuals struggling with addiction receive the support and resources they need to thrive.
Shawnna Johnson
With a Master of Science degree and LGPC licensure, Shawnna currently holds positions as the Coordinator for the Family Recovery Support Program at the Baltimore County Circuit Court and serves as a Rehabilitation Specialist with People Inspiring People and H.O.P.E. Therapeutics. Her career trajectory reflects a commitment to supporting individuals and families through various challenges and transitions. Passionate about community engagement, Shawnna actively contributes to various organizations and initiatives. She serves as the Vice Chair for the Edgewood Joppatowne Independence Day Committee, a Board Member for the Harford Democratic Club, and the Secretary for the Edgewood High School Band Boosters. Additionally, she plays a pivotal role in fundraising and campaign coordination for her husband’s political endeavors. Beyond her professional and community commitments, Shawnna finds joy in crafting and cooking, which serve as outlets for her creativity and relaxation, amidst her busy schedules. Overall, Shawnna T. Johnson exemplifies dedication, compassion, and leadership in both her professional endeavors and community involvement.
Morgan DeWeese
Currently works for the Office of Personnel Management within the Healthcare and Insurance Division as a Program Specialist. She provides program support to Tribal organizations participating in the Federal Employee Health Benefit program. Prior to that she was the Aging and Disability Resource Manager with the Cecil County (MD) Department of Community Services. In that role, she supervised staff providing community-based support and services through case management, counseling, and advocacy. Morgan previously worked as a Child Support Incentive Program Case Manager, also for Cecil County. Morgan lives in Cecil County with her husband and son.
Bill Burke
With 25 years of experience in Information Technology , Supply Chain and Logistics, Bill Burke currently serves as the Vice President of Administration at the Strasburg Rail Road Company. His career is distinguished by a commitment to operational excellence and a deep understanding of complex systems. Beyond his professional achievements, Bill is a passionate advocate for substance abuse recovery. Drawing from his own journey of long-term recovery, he is dedicated to helping others discover the joy and fulfillment that comes with overcoming addiction. An avid bowler and fisherman, Bill balances his professional and advocacy work with his love for outdoor activities. As a devoted father to five children—two boys and three girls—he finds joy in family life and cherishes the moments spent with his loved ones.
Laura Weinstein
Laura earned her BA degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. Her advocacy career began at Heartly House, Inc. in Frederick, MD, where she served as a Crisis Worker, offering support and education to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Since 2006, Laura has dedicated herself to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Over the course of 17 years, she worked as a Case Manager, Supervisor, and Program Manager, overseeing services for people with developmental disabilities in Harford and Anne Arundel Counties. Currently, she serves as the Chief Development Officer for The Harford Center, Inc. in Havre de Grace, MD, where she oversees the agency’s fundraising initiatives, community engagement, and grant management. Laura is deeply committed to building relationships, fostering collaboration, and promoting professional development. She believes that through strong relationships and empowering others, anything is possible. Laura lives in Harford County with her husband and children.
