Are you in substance use recovery? Do you have connections to the recovery community where you live? Are you willing to help others find the freedom you have experienced? We are looking for you to join our team of passionate change makers and advocates! Voices of Hope (VoH) is a peer-run nonprofit recovery community organization that serves Cecil and Harford Counties in Maryland. We are hiring Peer Recovery Specialists – people with substantial experience with substance use recovery. VoH Peers support individuals in chaotic drug use, those preparing for change, those seeking treatment and those in recovery. Peers are trained to provide ethical relationships with the people who reach out and engage with Voices of Hope. Peers are trained to be knowledgeable about the treatment and recovery support resources of the surrounding area. They play a vital role in assisting individuals with practical strategies and ideas aimed to reduce potentially negative and harmful consequences of using substances or engaging in risky behaviors. Peers are also responsible for community engagement and must be well informed on the current trends and education regarding Harm Reduction strategies on an ongoing basis. Peers are trained to be Certified Narcan Train the Trainers and must be fluent in Overdose Prevention, comfortable with training individuals who use drugs in the community as well as the community itself. The Peer will be required to treat each individual with a trauma informed care approach. Peers represent recovery and Voices of Hope in the professional and general community, setting the expectation of respect and dignity for those we serve. Peers must achieve the Maryland Certified Peer Recovery Specialist credential within the first year (we can help with that!). Peers must review, understand and follow VoH Ethical Standards and the standards of the Credential.
We are seeking experienced Certified Peers and beginners. Pay scale begins at $15 an hour with no experience in the role of a Peer to $20 and up depending on skills and Certification status. We offer multiple shifts, shift differential pay, life insurance, dental and benefit stipends. We encourage professional growth and invest in our people. We are seeking individuals who have a high level of emotional intelligence, professionalism and a passion for helping others in our community. VoH is a community of recovery positive people – inclusive and supportive of each other. Diversity is welcomed!
