North East Community Clean-Up Event by Voices of Hope and All Paths

In a heartwarming display of unity and community pride, Voices of Hope and local recovery community organization All Paths joined hands this weekend to host a remarkable clean-up event. This grassroots initiative, which took place on Saturday November 4th, saw people of all ages and backgrounds coming together to tackle the overgrown and underkept area behind Lowes and Food Lion in North East, MD.

Almost 1,500 pounds of trash were removed from an entrance to the woods.

The clean-up, which was organized by Voices of Hope and All Paths, attracted an impressive turnout from the community. Volunteers armed themselves with gloves, trash bags, and determination, and they hit the streets with a common goal – to clean up the woods behind Lowes in North East which houses a large number of individuals that have found themselves with no where else to go.

The day began with our volunteers meeting at Bay Church to help pack lunches for those in the community without housing, before breaking out into teams and driving to the Lowes parking lot.

The event was not just about cleaning; it was about building connections and fostering a sense of togetherness. Voices of Hope staff, All Paths members, locals and volunteers from the community worked alongside residents of the woods, who most had never met before, and became fast friends. It was a day of laughter, teamwork, and shared dedication to a common cause.

Almost 1,500 pounds of trash were removed from an entrance to the woods. Voices of Hope trained staff collected over 400 syringes scattered near the entrance.

The success of this community clean-up event serves as a testament to the power of unity and collective action. It has proven that, when people come together with a shared vision, they can create positive change and build a stronger, more vibrant community.

Voices of Hope and All Paths plan to continue the work they started by hosting quarterly clean-up events in hopes to continue keeping our community clean and safe for our neighbors.
